Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Michael Francis Urbanski to the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia on a vote of 94-0. Judge Urbanski is the 23rd Obama nominee to be confirmed during the 112th Congress.There are currently 110 vacancies in the federal judiciary, 34 of which are considered to be “judicial emergencies” by the administrative office of the U.S. Courts. Forty-nine nominees are pending in the Senate, 14 of which are awaiting final confirmation votes.
